Position Information:

  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Location: St. Paul, MN or remote (anywhere within the U.S.A.)
  • Start Date: June 6, 2022 – August 26, 2022
  • Compensation: $18.00/hour


Intern, Regional Membership:

The role of MPR Membership is to maintain and grow a membership base that drives funding to support the public service and mission of Minnesota Public Radio. As the Regional Membership Intern, you will be responsible for several key areas of our successful Membership program including the retention and acquisition of members by:

  • working with our team and others throughout the organization to audit our existing renewal series then design, create, and implement a robust, multi-channel renewal processes to retain members
  • attending events to drive membership acquisition and engagement including Rock the Garden and the Minnesota State Fair
  • working with members to record testimonials for use during member drives

You will have the opportunity to learn how a membership program works, how analytics are used, and how strategies are developed.


Key Learning Goals:

  • Gain an understanding of membership fundraising – particularly in public media
  • Complete a multi-faceted project - analyzing existing membership processes, then creating a new, multi-channel renewal system for MPR's membership program
  • Gain hands-on experience in project management and organization, and donor engagement


Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with MPR Membership team and others throughout the organization to review the MPR Membership renewal series then design, create, and implement a robust, multi-channel renewal processes to retain members
  • Attending events to drive membership acquisition and engagement including Rock the Garden and the Minnesota State Fair
  • Solicit and collect recorded testimonials from members for use during member drives

Programming:

  • Participate in robust on-boarding experience
  • Professional development: on-the-job training, intercultural development assessment, formal performance review feedback sessions, etc.
  • Participate in brown bag sessions to gain broader perspective of the organization


Required Qualifications:

  • Enrolled Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in an undergraduate or graduate program OR have earned a degree within the last 12 months
  • Interest in fundraising
  • Strong writing skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Team player
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Passion for MPR programming


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fundraising experience (i.e. phone-a-thon)
  • Project management experience
  • Event planning and producing experience
