HR Health & Welfare Benefits and Work/Life Benefits Internship
The Bon Secours Mercy Health Internship Program is a paid 10-12-week immersiveprogramthat will expose students to the healthcare industry while also giving them the skills and experience needed to build a career. The program provides opportunities for mentorship, networking, career & professional development, community service, job shadowing, and exposure to senior and executive leaders. The intern will work under the direction of Bon Secours Mercy Health leadership by supporting the Health & Welfare and the Work/Life benefits team in administrative tasks and projects.
Location: Work from Home
Dates: Monday, May 23rd, 2021 -Friday, August 5th, 2021
Hours: 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks
Responsibilities:
Health & Welfare Benefits The Health and Welfare Benefits Intern will work within the functions of our department to support day-to-day health and welfare benefit plan administration and projects as necessary.Responsibilities include:
Benefit plan eligibility audits
Assist in testing benefit plan integrations and associate communications in our HR systems Workday and HR Service Now
Benefit plan billing support
Research associate escalated service issues and administrative appeals
Assist Health and Welfare team with the integration of potential new medical, pharmacy, education, and associate discount vendors
Development of Standard Operating Procedures
Assist with Health Savings Account (HSA) support on reporting & enrollment
Assist with Flexible Spending Accounts reporting and auditing
Other tasks as assigned
Work/Life Benefits The Work/Life Benefits intern will work with the manager and consultant to help explore, benchmark, and implement benefits programs that will make BSMH the best in class healthcare provider. Responsibilities include:
Research and benchmark other industries providers in various programs, like child care, elder care, home ownership benefits, and other current offerings in the industry
Present findings and work with team on recommendations
Develop reporting mechanism for education benefit
Assist with launch of new student loan repayment program
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Public Health, Health Promotion, Psychology/Social Work
Junior/Senior preferred
Strong service orientation
Self-starter with strong work ethic and sense of accountability
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Strong interpersonal skills
Must be self-motivated, capable of taking initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing priorities, and effectively manage deadlines
Ability to work effectively in a team environment and have strong rapport with leaders and colleagues
Strong analytical and research skills
