We are seeking an experienced recruiting professional to lead our US Investment Banking team’s talent acquisition needs. You will individually be focused on managing the efforts of the investment banking recruiting team and focusing on proactive outreach to seasoned mid-level banker candidates. In addition, you will work collaboratively with investment banking leadership to identify and meet recruiting needs. Your role will include oversight and development of an innovative sourcing focus on senior and junior recruiting while implementing and managing best practices across all aspects of the recruiting lifecycle to ensure it’s well-organized, efficient, and successful.

You will actively interface with candidates and campus representatives to discuss Baird’s Global Investment Banking platform and the career opportunities available to bankers across our sector teams. You will also partner with Baird’s Corporate Human Resources team to enhance the Baird brand in the employment marketplace to increase the pool of available candidates who are interested in careers in investment banking.

This fast-paced environment is ideal for a high-energy, organized recruiting professional with strong interpersonal skills who relates well with both potential hires at the junior and senior levels as well as interface with driven, results-oriented internal members of the Global Investment Banking team.

Location: Chicago is preferred or a willingness to travel to Chicago regularly

As a Talent/Recruiting Manager, you will:
  • Collaborate with Global Investment Banking leadership as well as actively lead the US Investment Banking Recruiting Committee (as a Co-chair) on all strategic and tactical recruiting activities
  • Oversee, develop, and implement recruiting strategies and best practices that support Investment Banking’s various hiring objectives including, but not limited to:
    • Attracting the highest quality candidates
    • Hiring those who are the best cultural fit
    • Enhancing our inclusion and diversity
  • Manage the investment banking recruitment team to coordinate and direct logistics of the recruiting process for undergraduate, MBA and experienced hires
  • Collaborate with corporate HR and Talent Acquisition teams to ensure proper integration, support and coordination throughout recruiting and hiring processes
  • Work with Investment Banking leadership to determine mid-to-senior hiring needs, assist in identifying potential candidates, coordinate regular dialogue and outreach, and facilitate the interviewing and screening processes
  • Manage 3rd party recruitment agency relationships and contracts; serve as primary liaison on retained and contingent searches
  • Lead the development and execution of a proactive sourcing and hiring strategy that targets individuals with 1-5 years of prior investment banking experience for positions as a Financial Analyst, Associate or Vice President across our key US offices
  • Oversee Investment Banking’s campus-based hiring of undergraduate and graduate school students for both full-time and summer-internship positions at the Financial Analyst and Associate levels
  • Identify, develop, and leverage contacts both within and outside of the investment banking industry to identify recruiting trends and best practices
  • Build and maintain relationships with key contacts at core recruiting schools, including career services staff, key faculty/deans, and student clubs to build strong talent pipelines.
  • In coordination with Investment Banking leadership:
    • Develop and manage budgets for recruiting activities.
    • With recruiting team and hiring managers, coordinate and conduct candidate interviews
    • Engage candidates to address questions and negotiate certain aspects of offers.
    • Manage the candidate closing process and ensure proper follow-up.
  • During peak recruiting periods there will be a requirement to work outside of normal business hours and to travel intermittently

What we look for:
  • Undergraduate college degree required. A minimum of seven years of work experience. Prior experience working in the Executive Search field consulting and executing complex talent attraction preferred
  • Prior experience recruiting junior and/or senior talent in a management role within financial services, investment banking or professional services industry preferred
  • Team player with demonstrated management skills and experience.
  • Skill and experience thinking strategically about how to build a recruiting brand for both campus-based and experienced hires
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with potential candidates who have a wide range of experiences and backgrounds as well as work well with multiple internal stakeholders
  • Experience using (i) social media and professional networks to source candidates (e.g., Beamery, LinkedIn, Suited, etc.); (ii) recruiting CRM platforms; and (iii) Workday and other HR-technology systems preferred
  • Ability to complete complex projects under pressure and/or short deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess an innate sense of urgency, with a true desire to go above and beyond to service clients
