The department
Distribution is responsible for the marketing, promotion and ongoing development of our product offering, for both institutional and intermediary channels globally. Distribution is a trusted partner to our clients and we enable investment solutions through active management. Areas within Distribution consist of Sales, Global Marketing, Global Product and Investment Trusts.

Overview of the role

As a Business Intelligence Analyst Intern you will support the internal and external sales and marketing teams with selling our investment products through a variety intermediary, institutional, and international channels including: brokerage firms, financial advisors/brokers, banks, and insurance companies. You will respond to client information requests, answer channel, firm, and product related questions, and provide sales performance data and analytics in an effort to help our Sales team become more effective at meeting the needs of our clients.

This position will be remote.

Duties and responsibilities
You will:
  • Assist in analyzing and interpreting third party and internal competitive data sources to determine areas of improvement and optimization. This data includes but is not limited to, financial services industry data, mutual fund return data, ownership data and third-party consortium data
  • Be a trusted business partner and go-to resource for your teammates and our internal business customers about our distribution data. Work with each business support unit to analyze customer requirements
  • Work closely with other corporate groups to drive data integration where needed and provide expertise on our strategic data analysis and reporting needs across the enterprise. Collect requirements for current and future tool development. Focus areas include analyzing customer behavior as they interact with Janus Henderson, identifying top customer journeys and associated customer metrics, then sharing insights cross-functionally to drive improved results
  • Gather, coordinate and perform data analysis to gain insight into business functions and help make recommendations to the team. Support Business Intelligence tools, processes, reports and documentation. Accompany or shadow professional level employees on assignments
  • Provide mentorship and expertise with all levels of the organization
  • Carry out additional duties as assigned

Technical skills and qualifications
  • Ability to use current department specific software: Cognos, Tableau, Alteryx, Salesforce.com, Power BI, SQL, R, or Python; to complete assignments
  • Candidates must be enrolled as a full-time student at the time of the internship with a GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Incoming juniors and seniors or graduate student highly preferred in one of the following fields: Business Analytics, Finance, Data Science, Mathematics, Computer Science or similar
  • Looking for candidates who are passionate about the mutual fund/financial services industry

Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:
  • Completion of all assigned compliance training
