Dedicated and talented people believing in our mission. To this end, our website development team is looking for an intern to expand our website function and user appeal.

Overview of Internship:

The summer Web Development Intern will work under the direction of the Senior Specialist, Web Development to execute various tasks for the Road Scholar website. This role will concentrate on general development, release engineering, code review/QA, and documentation. Familiarity with Agile project management principles and practices, including sprint planning, daily standups, and ticketing system administration is a plus. The work is constantly evolving and will engage someone who likes challenges, learning, and applying new tools. You will work on meaningful and impactful projects alongside the Road Scholar web team, and will have the opportunity to take the development lead for specific tasks, while receiving close, one-on-one mentorship from an experienced software engineer.

What will you do?

  • Code, test, debug, deploy and document website updates as required.
  • Experience DevOps through participation in production rollout processes
  • Participate in project briefs, design sessions, and code reviews as needed
  • Collaborate with other teams and with our business stakeholders.
  • Take personal responsibility for project deadlines and technical commitments and contributions to assigned projects
  • Meet bi-weekly development goals as established by Sprint Planning Team

What you need?

  • Be in a junior or senior year at an accredited college or university
  • Experience with website coding and development; Blazor, ASP.NETcore a plus
  • Experience with RESTful Web API’s, JSON.
  • Basic understanding of design for mobile and desktop devices
  • Advanced problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Major in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field

What will you learn?

  • Development skills in one or more of the following:
    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript. C#, ASP.NET.MVC, and ASP.NET Core Blazor
  • How to work with RESTful Web API’s and JSON.
  • Process and practical application of testing and debugging websites
  • How to work in an Agile environment
  • How to communicate complicated technical information to non-developers

What are the internship details?

This internship runs 16 consecutive weeks during the summer between May 2022 and August 2022, subject to the student’s schedule. The internship is remote, 20 hours/week with flexible weekly schedule. Stipend is paid at 50% halfway through the internship and the other 50% after successful completion of the internship. College credit where applicable.
