Footwear Design Intern
This is a 100% Remote Opportunity (but must reside in one of the states listed below**)!
KEEN is offering college students a completely virtual opportunity to experience and be embedded into the brand by offering a 10-week paid summer (June - August) internship.
We’re eagerly looking for students who seek innovative solutions, have a strong passion for creating their own opportunities, enjoy playing outside, and spend time caring for the world around them.
Our KEENtern program provides students relevant and valuable hands-on work experience. This program includes:

Program Requirements
- Be a Junior, Senior, or Grad student
- Must be able to dedicate 40 hours/week toward the internship during normal M-F PST working hours
- Eligible to work in the US

General Summary
The Footwear Design Intern will work alongside the design team to gain experience and exposure across a range of seasonal milestones and product assortments. This role will gain creative insights and inspiration through close working partnerships with Product Marketing and Development, as well as ideate alongside other product designers.
Essential Responsibilities
- Support the overall Footwear Creation process across multiple categories
- Manage a design project through the entire creative process
- Help prepare tech packs of footwear projects – keeping up with changes to the design
- Engage with internal stake holders and creation partners to understand the dynamics and forces of gravity at play in the design studio
- Support and engage with the the color and material creation teams
- Manage daily activities involving design and internship deliverables
Minimum Qualifications
- Working toward Master’s or Bachelor’s in Product, Fashion Design or related field
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
- 3D modeling software experience is a plus
- Some experience with relevant materials including: leather, textile and footwear components
- Knowledge of design process, with experience in sketching, 3D prototyping and/or tactile construction
- Understanding of trend, industry, and consumer insight research
- Must be enrolled an accredited college or university at the Junior, Senior, or Graduate level
- Must be able to dedicate 40 hours/week toward the internship during normal M-F PST working hours
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Exceptional attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to learn new software programs
- Ability to solve problems with a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and on tight deadlines
- Able to sit and/or stand at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time
- Proficient with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
