What you will do

The US Procurement organization is seeking a summer intern to join the direct materials team to support the development and execution of critical supplier strategies. This 32 hour per week internship will include the opportunity to get visibility to many facets of procurement as well as exposure to other functions including supply chain, engineering, and operations. This is a great chance for a team-oriented student to see the innerworkings of a world class procurement organization.

How you will do it

  • Market Intelligence – build and present the quarterly batteries commodity market intelligence outlook for the commercial team
  • Implement Delegation Of Authority (DOA) process
    • Track and monitor vendor spend
    • Ensure spend is in compliance with the DOA
    • Establish the cadence of the reviews and ensure participation from key stakeholders
    • Manage the business review process and establish master schedule
  • Support the Procurement and Direct Materials Team in developing Commodity Strategies
    • Confirm key stakeholders
    • Support the development of the strategy template
    • Manage the scheduling and cadence of the strategy development sessions
    • Contact the suppliers and communicate the business review requirements
    • Launch RFQ’s and E-Auctions as necessary
  • Support the execution of key Commodity Strategies
    • Support the supplier transitions for a key commodity
  • Manage and Track Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
    • Analyze monthly reporting on performance
    • Investigate variances
    • Present and explain findings
  • Request, categorize, and file Supplier Review and Acceptance forms (SRA’s)
    • Work with the supply base on completing forms
    • Organize and file forms as appropriate
    • Track form KPI’s

What we look for

  • Currently enrolled as a full-time UNDERGRAD student at an accredited U.S. college or university
  • Pursuing a degree in Purchasing, Supply Chain, Logistics and/or Business Management
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to consolidate, organize and analyze data
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and balance competing priorities
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and able to articulate when hit a roadblock in progress
  • Able to work well within a team, as well as work independently on projects
  • Junior status in Winter 2022 preferred
  • U.S. citizen or legal right to work in the U.S.
  • Available to work up to 32 hours per week in the summer
  • Available during normal daytime office hours as agreed with supervisor

Working Arrangements:

  • This internship is remote for summer 2022
  • Interns will have the opportunity to work out of the Glendale, WI office as well
  • Interns must have a quiet workspace away from interruptions with adequate internet access
  • Be able to maintain regular contact with the supervisor/team via virtual methods such as video call, phone call, email and instant messenger
  • Willingness to work independently and with a team
  • Willingness to take direction from direct manager and senior members of staff
