Reporting to the Manager of Brigham IS Ancillary Procedure Systems & Integration, under direct supervision, The Mass General Brigham Digital (MGBD) Intern works as part of a team that provides oversight and support for the following: Ancillary Systems, Cardiology Systems, Enterprise Infrastructure projects, Configuration/Change Management, New Application Review and Assessment, and Ensemble Hub Integration. Ancillary Systems include areas such as Endoscopy, EEG/Neurology, Sleep Lab, Pulmonary, Reproductive Medicine, Patient Safety/Risk Management, Marketing, and other hospital procedural systems. The MGBD Summer intern is responsible for outreach, coordination, testing, support and quality customer service for major projects and initiatives impacting Brigham Health, including new system implementation, and existing system upgrades; Windows 10, Office 365, web browser, and other end user computing updates; enterprise infrastructure upgrades, Network Access Control deployments; Secure Mobile Communications; MGB application rebranding; Brigham Application Inventory and Device Management.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with application and department contacts to plan and prepare for changes, upgrades, and deployments
- Act as liaison between user community and deployment team
- Maintain and update tracking documents
- Provide end user support and education, both onsite and remotely
- Assist with testing and upgrade activities, including but not limited to, testing software, writing test cases and test scripts, and executing test cases
- Provide technical support of applications
- Work with other IS teams and vendors to investigate and trouble shoot issues
- Provide daily rounding and liaising with nurses and physicians who use Secure communications apps within the hospital. Responsibilities include At-The-Elbow training/education, documenting user operational issues and report back to the support team, creating training tip sheets and training aids, submitting recommendations for workflow improvements or application enhancements
- Other duties as assigned
Dates of Internship: June 6, 2022 - August 12, 2022
Duration: 10 weeks
Location: Mostly remote with select days onsite at one of our Eastern MA locations
Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- College sophomore, junior or senior, ideally with a concentration in Information Systems or Healthcare
Skills/Abilities/Competencies:
- Strong written, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to interact with people from all organizational levels
- Self-directed and capable of independent work
- Ability to be flexible, versatile, and adaptable in day-to-day activities conducted in a multi-site environment
- Detail oriented
- Willingness to work in the hospital
- Strong computer skills in a Microsoft environment
- Knowledge of Excel, SharePoint, Smartsheet, OneNote, screen capture tools a plus
- Knowledge of database management a plus
