What it's like working for Agilent as an Intern


As an Intern, you will apply your function-specific sophomore/ junior year coursework to a variety of focused hands-on projects. At the same time, you will gain and apply knowledge about Agilent's industry, infrastructure, and products in your assignment. This is developing real-world experience in a company that is a leader in the markets it serves.


You will learn the commercial aspects of running an Equipment service division. They will work with external suppliers and internal managers throughout the US and Canada. You will review current procedures and optimize them as well as assist with rolling out new administrative systems. There will also be short-term project opportunities in Sourcing and Supplier Management.


The Position:

  • Interacts with Agilent's India team with Service Level and Financial Reports, invoice and payment resolution, and onboarding of new supplier technicians.
  • Works with multiple managers throughout North America helping to resolve problems and issues with suppliers working on Agilent equipment.

Position Requirements

  • Good leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Strong MS Office skills especially Excel and be familiar with PowerPoint
  • Currently, remote position though will be required to have some onsite involvement once given a clear to return to office location in Wilmington, DE

Primary Functions

  • Help Evaluate, negotiate, develop and manage relationships with Service Providers and/or Service Contractors.
  • Serve as an escalation point of contact to help resolve supplier issues including contract disputes, payment terms and supplier issues.

Note: This position is a 6-month assignment (can start earlier than summer if applicable). Summer (3 months) internship 40 hrs. per week. Last 3 months full time/part time - 15 to 20 hrs per week while attending school.


Required Qualifications

  • Completion of sophomore or junior year at an accredited 4-year university required. (Economics, Business, Supply Chain or relatable major.)
  • Business acumen, competency of analyzing and acting on performance and financial information to drive business results and achieve objectives
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Multitasking and capability to work with multiple projects and priorities concurrently

Preferred Qualifications

  • A basic understanding of the chemical/pharma/bio-industry and service business is a plus
