Northern Tool + Equipment is excited to announce our 2022 Internship Program. The program is designed to kick-start your career and provide real-world experience in your chosen profession. Interns will further develop their skills and knowledge by completing project-based work that addresses real business issues. The program also connects participants with management at various levels of the organization and provides an inside view of Northern’s environment and culture. The program structure includes an end-of- program project presentation by the intern to members of Northern’s management team.

We’re currently searching for an intern to join our Communications team in Human Resources. You will be assigned a specific project that will not only maximize your potential but add great value to our company!

Some of the responsibilities will include:

• Lead project to establish content management processes and templates for company-wide digital display program.
• Contribute to development and execution of social media plan for employer brand and recruiting platforms.
• Develop photo library content and maintain archival system.
• Supports company-wide roadshow series.
• Support requirement gathering and content audit process for company intranet solution.
• Write and produce internal communications materials.
• Provide support to Communications team by writing/proofing/editing content, ensuring the content is accurate, timely and engaging.
• Develop templates for several media channels including email, internal website, social media, video, and/or TV displays.
• Assist with developing content and graphics for various publications, electronic media, and social media platforms.
• Continue development on annual master calendar, including internal campaigns in support of company initiatives.
• Involved in discovery of solutions to improve communication and access to information across the organization.

This position will be primarily remote, with occasional in-person work required at Northern Tool + Equipment’s corporate office. Travel to MN-based Northern Tool + Equipment locations may be expected.

What we are seeking in an intern:

• Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or related degree.
• Experience using Microsoft Office Products; Excel is a must.
• Experience with Canva, and/or Powtoon preferred.
• Detail oriented and analytical.
• Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide writing or work samples.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deliver exceptional work in a short timeframe.
• Must be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to work remote (depending on COVID guidelines)
• Retail Experience a plus
