Campaign Management Intern (Summer-Fall)
AARP’s Community, State and National Affairs (CSN) Group includes Government Relations, Programs, Volunteer Engagement, Community Outreach and Advocacy at the federal, state and local levels. It delivers on AARP’s social mission by educating and engaging people 50-plus and their families, strengthening communities, and championing issues that help give people financial and health security.
AARP's Government Affairs Team is looking for an intern to work on the Campaigns team. You will develop your business skills while working for the largest social mission organization in the country. This internship has an anticipated start date of June 2022 and will go through the end of the year.
You will work under the close supervision of Campaign Management staff. Self-motivation and the ability to work independently as part of a team and collaboratively are required. You will have opportunities to work closely with the Manager and other members of the Campaigns team as necessary, to support the goals of AARP Campaigns.
Primary duties will include:
- Preparing materials related to AARP's multi-state campaigns using PowerPoint, Word documents, and Excel spreadsheets
- Gathering research and compiling information and recommendations regarding priority advocacy issues; this could include online searches, reviewing publications, and accessing library materials
- Collaborating with other organizations around AARP's priorities
Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students; and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship. AARP also considers non-traditional interns who are looking to re-enter the workforce or change careers. This may include those who have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program.
