Job Description:
Analytical Mechanics Associates, Inc., (AMA) is currently seeking to hire a Cyber Security Intern to assist the IT staff in hardening company infrastructure. We are seeking a college Jr. or Sr. who is currently enrolled in an undergraduate Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Information Security degree program. The intern will have the opportunity to work with a variety of systems in support of CMMC and NIST-800-171 compliance. Our environment will provide the intern with a unique opportunity to be exposed to a variety of technologies and its application to solution business opportunities and challenges. This is 6-month internship to begin immediately or Summer 2022 and will be in Hampton, VA. Remote work might also be available.
Responsibilities:

  • Analyze security issues, determine cause and impact, and identify corrective action needed to eliminate future issues.
  • Author and update security policies required by NIST 800-171
  • Identify, coordinate, track, and report remediation for high-risk vulnerabilities
  • Collaborate with IT staff define reporting and metrics.
  • Identify gaps and weaknesses with the vulnerability management program, make recommendations for improvement, and assist with developing and implementing approved improvement plans.
  • Provide timely, clear, concise communication to management, team members, and other stake holders about project status

Requirements:

  • Detailed operational knowledge of computers and networks
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Information Security degree program
  • Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
