Overview:
Under the direction of the Director of Strategy and Portfolio Management, the intern will be a key member of the Canoo Portfolio Management Office (PMO) and support internal initiatives key to the success of the PMO. The internal initiatives will support the efficient operations of the PMO and the completion of team goals. The intern will support the deployment of project management tools. The intern will create configuration and training materials to support the adoption and implementation of project management tools used at Canoo. The intern should be aware of project management concepts and will gain project management experience as part of the internship program.
Responsibilities:
  • Create material to the support the implementation of project management tools
  • Develop material that shows the benefit of adopting project management tools
  • Participate in the overall strategic planning by linking project-specific activities with broader needs across the team
  • Interact with all levels of the PMO team, including analysts, managers, directors, and vice-presidents
  • Design and implements process improvements that enhance project management and optimize business operational efficiency and quality
  • Create, analyze, and deliver customized reporting for internal audiences
  • Develop high-quality communications suitable for internal and external clients
  • Provide assistance to improve/develop, document and deploy standard PMO processes and procedures
  • Support individual Program Manager(s) to help facilitate program work including projects schedule maintenance, project documentation revisions, resource time allocation, and other work as needed
  • Provide program management support to various project owners to ensure that projects are properly resourced, on-track, and within budget (daily project management tasks)
  • May also assist Program Managers with deliverables on an as needed basis
  • Help gather information and prepare presentations / visuals for the weekly Product and Program touchpoint as updates for the program teams, to deliver project-related communications and status updates
  • Support daily tasks of the Program Management Office as needed / assigned Desired skills and experience
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership
Qualifications:
Required Experience
  • Currently a junior or senior pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Finance, Business Administration, Project Management, or related fields.
  • Experience with project management or working with business cases
  • Analytical mindset, detail- oriented and super organized
  • Self-starter able to work in a remote environment
  • Ability to communicate information well (both written and spoken)
  • Good knowledge of Management Information Systems and Computer Science concepts and terminology.
  • Good organizational skills with problem solving and analytical skills.
Preferred Experience
  • A working knowledge of Project Management practices and Scrum
  • Basic knowledge of Software Development life cycle
Travel Requirements
Up to 20% travel may be required for the role
