Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Human Resources, Business or related field. Masters degree preferred. Three years of experience within Career Services, Higher Education, Human Resources or other related field. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.

Nature & Purpose of Position
Assists the Director of the Career Success Center in administering services provided by the Career Success Center. Manages the areas of career development, career advisement, and supervises Career Success Coordinator and Peer Career Advisors.

Primary Responsibilities
Strategically transforms career services, experiential learning, and professional development activities across the University in coordination with the Director and leadership team. Develops a culture of leveraging data to assess and increase the effectiveness and reach of career education initiatives, particularly with students from underserved populations. Serves as the chief strategist for building relationships with each of the colleges at Sam Houston State in conjunction with the Director. Regularly consults with Associate Deans to align office priorities and build success partnerships. Builds strategic partnerships and training opportunities with key offices, such as advisors in the SAM Center, student life, athletics, and faculty and staff engaged in experiential learning. Supports the Director in the development of a Faculty & Staff Career Champions Group, a network of faculty and staff engaged in key career and professional development activities across the University. Launches and leads the Experiential Learning & Internship Success Group, a network of faculty and staff engaged experiential learning and internships. Develops best practices, standards, and processes for internships, co-op, and experiential opportunities. Provides career advising to students as needed during times of high volume when assistant directors are not available. Works closely with the Associate Director of Marketing, Communications, & Events to leverage technology platforms related to career education, including Handshake. Manages and provides direct supervision to the Graduate Assistant position in the Career Success Office. Works closely with the Director and Career Success Team to provide mentorship to Peer Career Advisors. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications
Requires professional contact with students, prospective students, parents, alumni, other state agencies and officials, junior and community college officials and high schools and their officials. Requires knowledge of University policies and procedures and expertise in career development and services.

This position may be designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA).

This is not a fully remote position: Up to 20% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
