Executive Creative Director, Marketing

We are looking for an Executive Creative Director to lead a team of talented designers, copywriters, and creative production professionals responsible for elevating the Chegg brand and developing best-in-class marketing campaigns. This team is responsible for all creative marketing design and copy including the Chegg home page, marketing landing pages, emails, display ads, company swag, video and radio spots, physical activations, and occasionally even our offices! This role reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.

Success requires a multi-faceted leader who will be passionate to:

  • Raise the bar for creative execution . Frame and drive the development of an impactful creative vision for the new brand positioning we launched in the fall of 2021. Bring a healthy obsession with getting better to the team. A creative visionary who is equally skilled at conception as executing.Not afraid to dive into the tools, the design, and the copy to make it great when necessary
  • Build a culture where creatives can flourish . Team leadership is a superpower and a source of energy. Experience as Director or Associate Director of a consumer-facing Creative team, including a range of junior to senior and lead designers/copywriters. Able to promote a team dynamic that fosters creative thinking, innovation, and risk-taking. A demonstrated history of hiring quality creatives and coaching them to success. Adept at giving and receiving feedback. Experience managing remote employees is a plus
  • Cultivate performance marketing sensibilities . Embrace the role that research, testing, and results play in refining brand and creative ideas and optimizing execution work. Cultivate strong creativity without sacrificing speed and agility. Know when to be great and when good enough is good enough
  • Navigate the organization with agility . Highly developed organizational and interpersonal communication skills are critical. Ambiguity is normal and you are comfortable creating clarity where it doesn’t exist. Dynamic presenter, able to engage senior-level partners, instill confidence with business partners and build a strategic narrative for each creative solution. Lead cross-functional partners and agencies through the creative process, building strategic arguments for the creative, and upholding the integrity of the idea through production

What You’ll Need

  • 15+ years creative industry experience; previous in-house experience is preferred, with knowledge of how to navigate complex matrixed organizations
  • A portfolio that demonstrates the ability to formulate a brand vision and lead a team to successfully deliver brand and performance initiatives that move the needle
  • A track record of building strong lasting partnerships and fostering a vibrant team culture
  • An ability to develop strategic vision and direction setting, but a passion for creative problem-solving and mentorship
  • Strong business writing, storytelling, communication, and presentation skills
