Announcing a unique, hands-on summer internship program designed for a pair of ambitious students to gain hands-on advertising strategy experience at Camp + King, one of the West Coast’s best ad agencies.
About the Internship Get ready for a fast ’n furious deep dive into advertising strategy. This is not a drill… you will be working on real assignments for real clients and learning in real-time as part of the Strategy Department. Our internship isn’t like other internships. We’ve designed it to be a short, intense bootcamp that is tightly orchestrated to ensure you are learning invaluable skills, while also providing value to the agency.
You’ll be immersed in our strategic philosophy and our most common research tools, all while working collaboratively with one to two additional interns. Every few days, you’ll learn a new tool or approach and then be asked to put the learning to work practically. You’ll also work directly with all members of the C+K Strategy team, including its Director of Strategy and its CEO. You’ll learn how to harvest consumer insights, execute social listening, identify cultural trending, define the whitespace within a competitive category, and how to write a creative brief. You will leave this internship with a deeper understanding and appreciation for the role of strategy in advertising and valuable experience in the agency world.
You’ll have the opportunity to put it all together in a full strategy presentation, a creative brief, and a thought leadership article published to our blog and social channels. Interns will be paid $20/hour for the duration of the internship.

Timing Our Strategy Bootcamp Summer Internship is an intense three-week period between mid-July and early August, 2021. Exact dates to be finalized. Applicants are encouraged to apply early.
Location While we believe that an in-person internship provides greater value to the intern, if you are not able to be in Chicago during the program, we are open to remote work. Working locations will have to be pre-approved by Human Resources based on payroll limitations, so please make sure to include if remote or on-premise is preferred and if remote, which city in the United States you will be working from.
The Process Candidates should have an academic focus on Advertising, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Psychology, Sociology, or Anthropology and an ambition to work in Advertising, Brand or Social Strategy following graduation. Rising seniors or juniors are preferred.

The Written Submission Choose one brand that you think has an interesting presence on Instagram. What are they doing well that makes them stand out? What makes them a must follow? How do they engage their fans and not just make it a one-way dialogue? What are some of their most successful content types and why?
Feel free to write your response as a presentation (12 slides or fewer) or as a paper (under 900 words, please), pulling in whatever evidence and visual support best proves your points.
