Responsibilities

In this internship opportunity you will assist the Business Analytics and Industrial Engineering Team with optimizing hourly meal capacity (HMC) for in-park food venues. You will get the opportunity to build the HMC calculator that will provide management with expected HMC given a variety of inputs and support decision making for venue open/close strategy. This will include time studies to establish standard transaction times, table turnover and other data collection in the venues. Provide weekly reporting tool to monitor actual vs. target HMC and other impactful factors.
Specific Responsibilities:
  • To assist the Business Analytics and Industrial Engineering Department in accomplishing tasks
  • These tasks include time studies, data collection, data analysis, metric development and execution, and small projects pertaining to increasing efficiency, reducing costs, impacting sales, and improving ride throughput
  • Collect and compile observational data-time and motion studies
  • This data can be used to make business decisions around (but not limited to) ride capacity and utilization, Food and Merchandise sales, labor utilization, and standards
  • Preparation of established department metrics for Technical Services and Operations
  • For Technical Services, these include Operational Readiness, PM Completion and Compliance, and Work order metrics
  • Operation metrics are for controlling capacity changes and improvements
  • Assist in set-up and data entry of data for Technical Services, Operations, Merchandise, Foods, Entertainment, Park Services
  • Monitor and promote effective use of computerized maintenance management system
  • Perform various traditional Industrial Engineering tasks as required
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities
  • Performs other duties as assigned
This internship is a paid opportunity and will last approximately 10 weeks from January - April 2022. Exact internship dates are still to be determined and based on the intern's availability. End dates may be revised based on business need, including extensions (but are not guaranteed).

Qualifications/Requirements

In pursuit of Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in an accredited Industrial Engineering program and preferably in your junior or senior year of college.

Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above

This internship is a paid opportunity and will last approximately 10 weeks from January - April 2022. Exact internship dates are still to be determined and based on the intern's availability. End dates may be revised based on business need, including extensions (but are not guaranteed).

The intern will be required to work on-site at Universal Studios Hollywood based in Universal City, CA. This is not a remote opportunity. The intern must be able to work Full-Time 40hrs/wk during normal business hours (Monday - Friday).
