Financial Analysis & Corporate Strategy Intern
Northern Tool + Equipment is excited to announce our 2022 Internship Program. The program is designed to kick-start your career and provide real-world experience in your chosen profession. Interns will further develop their skills and knowledge by completing project-based work that addresses real business issues. The program also connects participants with management at various levels of the organization and provides an inside view of Northern’s environment and culture. The program structure includes an end-of- program project presentation by the intern to members of Northern’s management team.
We’re currently searching for an intern to join our Finance and Corporate Strategy department. You will be assigned a specific project that will not only maximize your potential but add great value to our company!
Some of the responsibilities will include:
- Support the Strategy & Corporate Development team in the evaluation of potential mergers & acquisition (M&A) opportunities
- Develop a strategy and actionable plan for the creation of a digitally-enabled competitive intelligence capability to support the company’s growth decisions
- Assist the budgeting team in creating fiscal year 2023 company-wide financial budget
- Help to document the financial planning process
- Assist in the preparation of the monthly forecasting process by collecting, understanding, and verifying inputs
- Help streamline and automate existing spreadsheets that support either the forecasting or budgeting process
- Assist with development/maintenance of report formats, procedures, and revisions of existing systems
- Partner on creating new financial models aligned with forecasting or budgeting that help drive analytic insights for the business
- End of program presentation to members of the management team

What we are seeking in an intern:
Junior or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Economics, Finance, or related field.- Analytical orientation with an ability to synthesize multiple data sources and present information succinctly
- Self -starter that is highly motivated with a desire to learn about business operations and opportunities
- Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of accounting and financial analysis
- Computer skills, including by not limited to Microsoft Office suite skills
- Ability to work with a variety of people in changing situations and create positive working relationships
- Ability to work remote (depending on COVID guidelines)
- Retail Experience a plus
