The engineering intern is responsible for supporting the capital project engineering, automation, and validation teams. The engineering intern will have a specific project to support during their internship and be responsible for providing a poster session at completion of the internship to report on the project. The engineering intern will report to the capital project manager and be directed by a lead process engineer.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define internship project within discipline capability in alignment with capital project objectives

  • Complete internship project and provide poster session and final presentation to leadership

  • Provide support for engineering, automation, and validation teams

    • Documentation reviews and support

    • Field inspections for data collection

This position will contribute at the Frederick, CO site with the following needs:

  • Support capital project for Nucleic Acid Solutions Division (NASD) for expansion of the Frederick, CO site

  • Engineering construction support

    • Request for information actions

    • Physical verifications of installations

  • Automation integration support

    • Document reviews and support

  • Commissioning and Qualification support

    • Document and field activity support

The Pay Range for this Intern position is: $21.62 - $27.02

DURATION 10-12 Weeks (Summer Internship)


  • Sophomore or Junior level student pursuing chemical, chemical & biological, electrical, mechanical engineering, or equivalent degree
  • Interest in pharmaceutical industry career

  • Teamwork skills and ability to collaborate

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • High initiative and self-motivation

  • Proficient in computer skills including Excel, programming, design, and technical searches

  • Desire for a hands-on working environment

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to communicate to a group of individuals through oral and/ or written materials.

  • Strong technical writing ability required. Knowledge in the fields of Science and Engineering with the ability to apply these concepts to define problems, collect data, establish facts, deal with concrete and abstract variables and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts to problem analysis and resolution utilizing correlation techniques, frequency distribution, permutations, and factor analysis.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and establish short and long-term planning horizons to complete these duties.

  • Ability to work effectively as a team to accomplish deadlines and objectives yet make independent decisions on various tasks.

  • Ability to read equipment data sheets and manuals for collection of requirements and capabilities

Requirements:

  • Perform work on-site at Frederick, CO facility with limited remote work

  • Meet Agilent COVID requirements for facility access

  • Provide your own housing – Housing costs will not be reimbursed

  • Cell phone for communications with the project team

  • Personnel protective equipment (provided by intern)

    • Closed toed shoes

    • Long pants

    • Shirt with sleeves

    • Prescription glasses (as required)

  • Agilent IT equipment (laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headset)

    • Remote access (with limited use)

  • Personnel protective equipment

    • Hard hat

    • Gloves

    • High visibility vest

    • Safety glasses (excluding prescription glasses – polycarbonate glasses covers available)
