Internship - Internal IT Controls

Interns will work out of our office in Topeka, Kansas, Overland Park, Kansas, or remote for the right candidate. SB associates are working in a hybrid environment with both remote and on-site work.
We are seeking candidates that would be available to work for a full year to see the full cycle of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR), specifically information technology general controls (ITGC).
Duties and Responsibilities
The Internal IT Controls Intern works under direct supervision of the Lead Auditor ITGC. The Internal IT Controls Intern will be responsible for assisting in the evaluation of the company’s information technology general controls (ITGC) over financial reporting across the Company, collaborating with the ICFR business controls team to ensure that the audits of the Company’s controls and financial statements are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Facilitate preparation of control workpapers, performing ITGC testing.
- Attend meetings with control owners to facilitate workpaper preparations and enhance process understanding or documentation.
- Gather documentation for needed internal and/or external control support.
- Assist in the business controls testing, as needed.
- Assist the ITGC Lead Audit with projects.
Eligibility
Students eligible for the internship will be current, full-time students available to work approximately 19 hours a week, beginning as soon as possible. Student will work during and between semesters, up to full-time during the summer. If eligibility remains, the student may work longer than one year. This is not a summer/winter only internship.
Qualifications
- Full-time student in Accounting, Finance, Business, Technology, or related field with at least a 3.0 GPA in major. Current junior, senior, or graduate student preferred.
- Proficient computer skills; including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Strong analytical, organizational, objectivity and multitasking skills
- Adaptable and flexible team player
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks
- Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to detail
- Strong written and oral communication skills, will work with various levels of the organization
- Knowledge of internal controls and ITGCs preferred
