Summer Research Internship
Location: In-person at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Westchester, NY (~1 hr drive from NYC) with potential for remote hours
In spring of 2004, Blue Hill at Stone Barns opened within the Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, New York, a working four-season farm and educational center just 30 miles north of New York City. Blue Hill and Stone Barns Center continue to work toward food culture centered on ecology, flavor and health.
Reports To: Special Project Managers
Position Summary: Blue Hill at Stone Barns is seeking full-time summer (35 - 40 hours per week) research interns for a minimum of 8 consecutive weeks and up to 12 weeks in 2022.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Interns will collaborate on research projects in all aspects of culinary and agricultural history, data collection, and media.
- Interns will have an opportunity to participate in select workshops, classes and field trips.
- May include support for the Blue Hill Market Forager and fermentation teams

REQUIREMENTS:
- Students who are knowledgeable with demonstrated experience exploring the intersection between a regenerative food and farming culture.
- Exceptional research, problem-solving, organization and communication skills.
- Capacity to learn quickly and execute accurately.
- Able to multitask in discrete time periods.
- Attention to detail—demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in work product
- The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow oral instructions and procedures. PREFERRED:
- Multidisciplinary undergraduates currently enrolled in junior or senior years, and those pursuing food and/or farming systems focused graduate programs will be given preference.
COMPENSATION:
- Non-exempt, hourly wage
- Blue Hill will provide educational materials at no cost, select field trips and scheduled meals at the Stone Barns Cafeteria and Blue Hill restaurants.
