While working in the Human Resources department, we are responsible for creating a first impression of our organization in the minds of our visitors, vendors, and customers when receiving the public and handling inquiries from both internal and external customers. In doing so, the Human Resources promotes our warm, professional, service-oriented culture and helps our partners to see why this is a fantastic organization to be a part of. Our department also serves internal customers by coordinating company programs, employee, and management needs, as well as supporting the Human Resources team.

Are you a fit?

A successful candidate for this role is detailed oriented, proactive, and is an effective communicator. You are organized and able to prioritize your activities to ensure goals are achieved. Strong communication skills are critical as well as any prior HRIS experience. You should be able to advocate for our employees as well as the company. Ultimately, your goal is to provide timely adherence to and resolution of key Human Resources policies and procedures while handling sensitive and confidential information.

Other stuff we like:

  • Rising junior or senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources.
  • Internship or prior relevant work experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of and experience with employment laws and employment practices is a plus.
  • Demonstrated excellent working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work with multiple computer systems and records retention tools.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.

More details on what you would be responsible for:



  • Employee Engagement: Support the HRBP in administering and analyzing the Exit Interview data for first half of 2022. Work with leadership to present trends and possible solutions from the Exit Interview data.
  • DEI: Work with the DEI team to streamline the process and launch one cultural event a month in the summer of 2022. Create excel sheets for strategic DEI data collection.
  • Recruiting: Work with recruiting team to learn the process and support the recruiters with opening, sourcing, interviewing, and closing a job requisition.
  • Community Affairs: Assist in planning, implementing and executing an in-person and virtual volunteer opportunity for summer interns. Create, capture and help produce content for internal and external stakeholders to tell how Gas South is “A Fuel for Good” in our communities.
  • Daily Tasks
    • Perform data entry as needed – add new hires, promotions, raises, terminations, etc.
    • Audit the employee Handbook and ensure that the policies are up to date via our intranet system, CONNECT.
    • HR SYSTEM: Learn UKG and become familiar with the platform. Perform basic data entry as needed.
    • Provide process improvements for Corrective Reinforcement process
