Basic Purpose

The Solution Architect team within NCFU are looking to add a Cloud Data Architect. This position requires senior level knowledge and experience supporting Data Architectures designed to take advantage of modern cloud database solutions. This role exists to facilitate NFCU’s cloud strategy and to take advantage of current no-SQL technologies and cloud database solutions such as Azure’s Cosmos DB, Synapse Analytics and Oracle EDM. They should possess advanced skill using Erwin DB to implement business patterns into logical data models and no-SQL physical data models. Candidates should have experience performing their tasks as part of an Agile/SAFe5 framework and be comfortable presenting and supporting their solutions during design review processes. The individual must be proficient using the Microsoft office suite to develop key artifacts required of each project. Candidate must be a self-starter and able to build a network of peers in the execution of your daily task.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify requirements and create models for new cloud-based databases suitable to support the data integration needs for application architectures, ensuring architected data solutions are consistent, scalable and flexible
  • Author documentation and/or artifacts using Erwin DB for use in business and technology projects, knowledge transfer, decision support, and product evaluation
  • Guide projects through data governance and oversight processes
  • Provide forward-thinking technical expertise and thought leadership in current and emerging technologies, development practices, market trends and best practices
  • Anticipate and plan for internal and/or external business challenges (e.g., Regulatory, Compliance, etc.), with the ability to recommend process, product or service enhancements
  • Build and maintain relationships with team members, management, key stakeholders and/or external contacts (e.g., vendors, etc.)
  • Guide and mentor junior data architects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Significant experience serving in the role of Cloud Data Architect supporting various functional and technical domains across medium to large-scale enterprises to achieve strategic and organizational goals
  • Significant experience guiding programs through data governance and oversight processes
  • Significant experience in communicating technical concepts and practices effectively at all levels, including non-technical audiences, adjusting as needed to a target audience
  • Significant experience in translating business needs and requirements into comprehensive, useful, and clear data architecture designs (e.g., logical data models, physical data models, etc.) and artifacts
  • Significant experience in facilitating review and validation of data architecture designs by technical and non-technical audiences
  • Significant experience in leading, guiding and mentoring professional staff
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently
  • Advanced skill using creative and innovative thinking to create original concepts and approaches for various projects and stakeholders
  • Advanced skill building effective relationships through rapport, trust, diplomacy and tact
  • Advanced organizational, planning and time management skills
  • Advanced word processing, spreadsheet, diagramming, and presentation software skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a matrixed environment

Incumbents possessing the following combination of skills will receive precedents:
  • Prior experience in the Financial Industries and large banks
  • Experience with ERWIN DB, Azure’s Cosmos DB, Synapse Analytics and Oracle EDM

Hours:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 - 4:30pm

  • Due to COVID-19 and social distancing, this position will be temporarily working from home with plans to return to campus at the desired location listed once Navy Federal is back to normal operations. The specific logistics for returning to campus will be determined at a future date by individual leadership.

Salary: Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain
competitive. You are paid within the salary range, based on your experience, location and market position.

The salary range for this position is: $95,600 to $163,500 Annual
