Jam City is seeking a
Software Engineering (Gameplay) Intern to directly work with our game development studio team based out of Carlsbad. We are focused on building awesome casual mobile games like Cookie Jam in addition to new titles. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn from and work alongside experienced game engineers, game designers, and other creatives while making meaningful contributions to live or in-development projects. If you have a passion for mobile games and have a desire to be immersed in the development process, come join us for the Summer.
This internship will be entirely remote.
Internship Program Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate university program in the U.S (Juniors or Seniors preferred) and able to intern remotely through late-August 2022. At this time, our program is not open to new grads.
- Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the US during the Summer 2022 session. Visa sponsorship is not available for our internship positions.
- Be able to work on a part-time basis (up to 30 hours per week)
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Write C# scripts for Unity focusing on creating or improving gameplay mechanics
- Work closely with architects and tech leads building puzzle games that are played by millions of users on mobile (iOS + Android) platforms
- Learn about our existing systems and development process, under the guidance engineering mentors
- Create robust, flexible code that can be easily updated as product needs change
- Contribute ideas in a collaborative, supportive team environment
- Work effectively as part of a fully remote multi-disciplinary team of engineers, artists, designers, producers and QA on mobile games
WHO YOU ARE:
- Must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate college program in the U.S. (Juniors or Seniors preferred) during the Summer 2022 program and returning to classes during Fall 2022
- Be able to work on a part-time basis (up to 30 hours per week)
- Preference for students from computer science, game development, or interactive entertainment programs
- Programming experience in C# or similar languages
- Basic understanding of Unity or a comparable game engine
- Interest in mobile games and game logic
- Experience using git is useful
- Ability to read and write data in JSON format
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
