At IMO, a core team of clinicians, software developers, and data scientists combine computer science and medical expertise to help patients and healthcare professionals’ access high quality health information quickly and easily to improve total patient health. We are currently in need of a Data Scientist Intern to join this team! The ideal candidate will be intricately involved in collaborating across the enterprise, running analytical experiments in a methodical manner, and will regularly evaluate alternate models via theoretical approaches. This is the perfect opportunity for the successful candidate to become a part of an innovative and energetic team that develops analysis tools which will influence both our products and clients.
Join our growing Software Engineering department as a Data Scientist Intern to help design, create, and support high quality solutions that support 80% of US clinicians and build the application of Data Science within IMO!
Internship Location: This internship will follow a hybrid workplace model to foster collaboration as well as flexibility. Please only apply if you will be able to do both remote and on-site work at our Rosemont, IL offices (HQ).
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Design and build ML models and validate using Python
- Projects to involve advanced data analytics and emerging technologies, working with data science and business experts
- Have the chance to collaborate with passionate scientists and engineers on exciting problems
- Research, analyze, present results, and recommend intelligent solutions to solve problems and address business challenges by applying knowledge of data analysis and critical-thinking skills
- Structure analytical results in an organized, visual manner to tell a meaningful, actionable story
- Perform data scrubbing, troubleshooting, quality checking, and usability analysis to identify anomalies, which need to be addressed prior to delivery of analytic results
- Develop, implement, and revise detailed analysis
- Use your experience in analytics tools and scientific rigor to produce actionable insights
- Collaborate with business leaders, subject matter experts, and decision-makers to develop success criteria and optimize new products, features, policies, and models
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
- Diverse Sophomore or Junior level classroom experience and a passion within the field of Math, Statistics, Informatics, Information Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science or related.
- Curiosity for technical challenges and an eagerness to explore new approaches.
- Familiarity with software development and the willingness and capacity to learn Python
- Familiarity with at least one of the following programming languages: C#, JavaScript, Angular 2 or 4, Typescript, ASP.NET, Java, C++, Python
- Awareness of software construction and principles
- Your voice (whether it’s a loud one or a quiet one). We believe in communicating. Ideas, needs, questions, concerns, good jokes.. Remember when we said we welcome your point of view? We meant it.
- An autonomous attitude. Of course, we’re here to teach, support and guide you through the internship, but ultimately, you will own projects and your development.
