Are you a creative, passionate, and results-driven student interested in community outreach and event planning? The AARP Michigan Team is looking for you! Our team creates and executes various events and projects to improve the lives of people as they age and help to build a better tomorrow for future generations. We’ll challenge you to think and work innovatively on real-world projects. AARP is committed to your growth and cultivating your continued learning and development. - Assist in the planning, preparation, and execution of meetings, trainings, events
- Data entry, organizing and maintaining materials and supplies, scheduling
- Communicating and engaging with various individuals and groups
- Evaluating volunteer management strategies and systems
- Assisting in evaluation and assessing metrics of activities
- Providing support for events, campaigns, and initiatives
- Supporting and managing community and statewide events
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
- Able to think critically and problem solve
- Experience in working with diverse communities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently and on a team
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Social Media platforms
- Commitment to at least 20 hours/week
- In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
