The Aerospace Corporation is hiring an Undergraduate or Graduate-level Intern to support our Commercial Space Futures (CFS) offices in the Crystal City and El Segundo campuses/facilities . This may require travel to other Aerospace and/or Government offices/locations in Colorado Springs, CO, Houston, TX and Chantilly, VA.
In this role, you will become part of the Commercial Space Futures which is chartered to drive and enable the harnessing of commercial solutions for government missions to advance U.S. space capabilities in the national interest. The CSF Office serves as a catalyst to support government customer needs for rapidly assessing new commercial solutions and accelerating the adoption and maturity of emerging capabilities to outpace evolving space missions and threats.
Work Model
Hybrid: This position will be a hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in El Segundo, CA or Crystal City, VA.
What You Will Be Doing
The CSF Office will provide several integrated offerings to support the evolving commercial space industry
Supporting the Head of CSF in:
- Engage with the space investment and commercial space communities
- Increase commercial industry awareness and engagement with government
- Conduct financial, technical, operational, production readiness assessments to inform government architecture, acquisition, and integration decisions
- Accelerate path to integration of commercial solutions for USG missions through enabling regulations, standards, interfaces, safety
- Provide capability maturation, testbeds and proving grounds to establish confidence for deployment in operational environments
- Experience working on projects with multi-disciplinary teams
What You Will Need To Be Successful
- Currently enrolled fulltime in an accredited college/university program pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Industrial or Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Finance or related business discipline
- Junior year completed by internship start date, or graduating Senior moving on to Graduate School in the fall
- Experience doing Data Collection
- Experience doing Performance Assessments
- Minimum GPA 3.0
- Must be able to obtain a security clearance; US Citizenship required
How You Can Stand Out
- GPA 3.5 or higher
- Active security clearance (Secret or TS)
- Familiarity with DoD, IC, NASA, NOAA, the Commercial Space Industry, and/or Venture Capital or Private Equity firms/processes.
