Overview:
Are you a student who can plan and implement design thinking programs utilizing consumer-centered research/evaluations/exercises to approach problem-solving, idea generation, or to support idea evaluations? AARP Innovation Labs Design Thinking Team is looking for you! As an intern, you will use your design thinking skills to work with internal business units and startups to solve problems creatively. You’ll facilitate in-person, virtual, and hybrid workshops in concert with design thinking team members and collaborators. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of summer 2022 and will go through the end of the year. Responsibilities:

AARP Innovation Labs Design Thinking Team is looking for you! As an intern, you will use your design thinking skills to work with internal business units and startups to solve problems creatively. You’ll facilitate in-person, virtual, and hybrid workshops in concert with design thinking team members and collaborators. This paid internship has an anticipated start date of summer 2022 and will go through the end of the year.
- Help facilitate and motivate cross-matrix teams in design thinking workshops and designs sprints through various phases of design framework
- Help structures and conducts in-person and remote usability evaluations and consumer exploratory research according to targeted metrics during design sprints
- Support research projects, leveraging full range of available research tools to explore and evaluate desired experiences, analyze research data, including but not limited to Subject Matter Expert interviews and focus groups as part of the insights gathering process. Presents findings and makes prioritized design recommendations
- Contributes to concept generation, iteration, and concept development during sprint/workshop
- Partners with cross-functional teams to develop design thinking workshops, talks, and trainings on design thinking and human-centered practices to create solution development across the organization and with outside startups/clients
- Must be enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college/university rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, or post-doctoral students and remain academically enrolled throughout the internship or must have previously graduated from college and enrolled in a continuing education program
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Excellent listening and probing skills
- In-office/open office environment with the ability to work effectively surrounded by moderate noise
Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA)
AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as telecommuting workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work and telecommuting can only be done within the United States and its territories.
