Come be a part of a team that is focused on creating new systems and processes to increase operational efficiencies in order to provide a unified approach to customer service. As a business technology solutions IT support intern for the Hennepin County's Real Property Group you provide a vital role in serving our internal customers and making a positive impact to Hennepin County's residents.

New employees who are hired into remote or hybrid positions between January 2, 2022 to December 31, 2024, will receive $500 toward the cost of establishing consistent internet connectivity, payable upon completion of 6 months of employment.

Location and Hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the government center in downtown Minneapolis 300 S 6th St. Minneapolis, MN, various service center locations and remote as job duties require. Internships require working 15-20 hours per week. When school is not in session interns may work up to 40 hours per week depending on students’ interest and availability. Work hours may be scheduled around students' class schedules, but must fall within the regular office hours of Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Duration of internships may last from 6 to 12 months..

In this position, you will:
  • Provide IT technical support to the department's internal customers
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and problem solve
  • Create test scripts
  • Write IT documentation
  • Collaborate with our team of IT professionals
Need to have:
  • Current enrollment in good standing as a junior or senior in a bachelor's degree program related to Computer Science or Information Technology as of Spring 2022.
  • Access to reliable transportation
Nice to have:
  • Analytical and work organization skills
  • Knowledge of power shell, SQL, Dot Net or Java
  • Experience and skills using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Willingness to learn and grow new skills
  • Interest in exploring the public sector as an area for future career growth
  • Ability to:
    • Work effectively with different groups; IT Business Analysts, IT Analysts & programmers, our business partners, and county staff in a professional manner, and be courteous and respectful to others
    • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
    • Learn software tools and develop new skills necessary to accomplish assignments
    • Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services

Business Technology Solutions (BTS) is a division within Resident and Real Estate Services. This area provides assistance to the Elections, Service Centers, Recorders, Surveyor and Examiner of Titles offices, and all other Resident and Real Estate Services.
