Job Description: Global Program Management (GPM) Summer Intern
BioMarin is the world leader in delivering therapeutics that provide meaningful advances to patients who live with serious and life-threatening rare genetic diseases. We target diseases that lack effective therapies and affect relatively small numbers of patients, many of whom are children. These conditions are often inherited, difficult to diagnose, progressively debilitating and have few, if any, treatment options. BioMarin will continue to focus on advancing therapies that are the first or best of their kind.
SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
GPM is part of the Product Portfolio Development (PPD) organization at BioMarin. PPD leads and operationalizes enterprise-wide integration of key internal and external insights and data to drive product and portfolio planning, strategic options, and decisions to bring transformative therapies to our patients. During the course of this internship the intern will gain valuable insight into the PPD organization and its interactions and value across the corporation. In addition to the PPD group, will have the opportunity to interact with clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, commercial, compliance and quality control groups across the organization.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Writing guidance documents
- Conduct a stakeholder survey and develop recommendations
- Collaborate with on initiatives with the various PPD functional groups (Global Program management, Core Team Leaders, Competitive Intelligence, Office of Strategy and Business Operations, Global patient Advocacy, Strategic Risk Management)
Qualifications/Eligibility:
Minimum junior or senior undergraduate in biological sciences or related undergraduate major- Innovative and critical thinker
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (i.e. ability to communicate brief but deep)
- Able to synthesize information gathered into concise summaries and presentations
- Excels at working collaboratively with others
- Student must be returning to school in the Fall Term OR has graduated within the 1 year of the start of the intern program
- Must be available to work 40 hours a week, majority of the job is remote, but there are advantages to being onsite from time to time
- Housing and Transportation is responsibility of the Intern
