We are seeking a motivated summer intern who desires to grow their knowledge of workers’ compensation practices and processes from multiple perspectives in a broad-based internship where you will work closely with the enterprise risk management, underwriting and claims teams.

In this role, you will work in partnership with these teams to advance your knowledge of business processes and drive improvements in an agile organization. Specifically, you will support daily operations and assist in conducting research and gathering data, while learning how to analyze the data to make business recommendations. As part of your internship experience, you will apply your learning to a capstone project.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

During this internship, you can expect to:

• Build a foundational understanding of workers’ compensation insurance with a focus on enterprise risk management, underwriting, claims.

• Explore ideas for enhanced analysis and data visualization using Tableau and other reporting tools to support business operations.

• Support underwriting and claims operations through evaluation, analysis, problem solving and solutions for a current business opportunity; present findings and implementation plan to senior leaders at the end of your internship.

• Research emerging and current risk and analyze potential impacts to business operations.

• Gain an understanding of holistic risk management that integrates vendor risk management, business continuity planning and divisional risk assessments.

It’s required that you:

• Be pursuing a bachelor’s degree as an incoming Junior or Senior.

• Provide one letter of recommendation from a professor or employer.

• Show proficiency in Microsoft Office products.

It would be great if you:

• Have previous work experience of greater than three months and/or experience with student organizations, or similar.

Internship details:

• Duration: June 6 – August 12, 2022 (flexible on start and end date)

• Location: Austin, TX; in-person; potential for limited remote work later in the internship

• Hours: 40 hours per week
