BAE Systems’ Electronic Systems (ES) sector is looking for candidates to join our Facilities Engineering team We have an intern position (S) for a talented, up and coming Facilities HVAC, technician (S) who want to work for a prominent high-tech company where technical excellence is highly valued. ES develops advanced electronic solutions which are fielded on everything from Electronic Warfare (EW) mission systems to state of the art imaging, targeting, guidance, and survivability solutions to assist and protect the warfighter. Our products must work the first time and every time because lives depend on it. The stakes are high!

Facilities Engineering interns work side-by-side with experienced project management, site management, project coordinators, senior engineering staff and trade professionals.

This internship is a paid internship, which will be at BAE SYSTEMS in southern New Hampshire and will provide general insight into Heating, ventilation and Air Conditioning Technologies.
Some of the responsibilities of a Facilities Technical Intern HS / HVAC Technician :

  • Performs maintenance and operational practices on all types of air conditioning, refrigeration equipment, heating equipment and their related controls /component parts.


  • Maintains, adjusts, repairs, installs, tests and operates all types of air conditioners, heating systems, chillers, steam absorption units, environmental chambers, hydraulic systems, vacuum pumps, pneumatic controls and microprocessor based building management system. Upgrades, writes and rewrites computer programs using Direct Digital Controls (DDC) to regulate facility equipment. May perform remote troubleshooting, repair service using a computer and modem.



  • Works from prints, sketches, diagrams, handbooks and manufacturer's instructions to analyze, diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctioning heating, air conditioning, ventilating and chambers in order to ensure efficient operating conditions. Maintains, inspects and repairs microprocessor based building management systems.

  • Installs microprocessor based control systems. Provides the reprogramming and control circuitry necessary for a complete installation.


  • Works from prints, sketches, diagrams, handbooks and manufacturer's instructions to analyze, diagnose, adjust and repair malfunctioning heating, air conditioning, ventilating and associated support equipment.

  • Maintains, rebuilds and replaces control transmitters and electronic components for the building management system. Installs new controls to provide the safest environment possible, and/or the most economical operation of for the facility equipment. Maintains, adjusts, troubleshoots and repairs all types of heating systems including but not limited to: steam, hydronic, forced hot air and humidification equipment.

Prepare charts, diagrams and reports expressing technical progress and accomplishments measured against specific plans.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
Must be a US Citizen
Must currently be enrolled in a High School level CAD / Drafting type program
Must have completed the equivalent of Sophomore year (entering junior year)
Good communication skills (verbal and written)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred
HVAC experience is preferred
Leadership skills
Understanding of infrastructure and utilities is preferred
