Department
UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (IN-UCOL-IUINA)
Department Information
IUPUI is an urban campus. We are committed to being a welcoming campus community that reflects and enacts the values of diversity, equity and inclusion. We seek candidates who seek to understand different perspectives and cultures, who can actively contribute to a work climate where differences are valued and supported, and who are sensitive to cultural norms, expectations and ways of communicating. We hope to identify individuals who can assist us in dismantling racism and other oppressions so that everyone has the opportunity to succeed at IUPUI.
The Division of Undergraduate Education (DUE) serves as the catalyst for enhancing the quality of the undergraduate student experience while promoting on-time graduation for all undergraduate students at IUPUI. Three units report up to the Division: University College, Honors College and the Institute for Engaged Learning.
University College provides a common gateway to the academic programs available to entering students. Programs and services offered by University College focus on assisting students with the development of the knowledge and skills needed for success in the collegiate environment, including academic advising, academic support, career planning, peer mentoring, and new student orientation. University College also offers college readiness programs that focus on helping high school students to become college bound.
Within University College, the mission of the Diversity Enrichment and Achievement Program (DEAP) is to enhance the transition and success of IUPUI students from populations that have been traditionally underrepresented in higher education by addressing academic, social, and personal matters that have an impact on persistence. Through connecting, affirming, guiding, and engaging students, DEAP helps to ensure their success at IUPUI. DEAP offers intensive retention programming and a supportive community.
