Responsibilities

We are looking for an autonomy engineering intern to work closely with leading subject matter experts and apply real-world solutions to make aviation safer and more efficient through autonomy. You will join an integrated project team that builds the core fly-by-wire and vehicle autonomy systems. You will be contributing to the development of fundamental decision making algorithms to enable autonomous flight of our airplanes.

Depending on your skill sets and areas of interest, your work will focus on some or all of the following below:

  • Perception and Estimation: Resolve real-world robotics problems in one or more of the following areas: computer vision, radar sensing, sensor fusion, state estimation, object detection, classification, and tracking.
  • Planning and Guidance: Develop and validate path planning algorithms that utilize trajectory optimization, reasoning under uncertainty, system dynamical models, and environment or airspace constraints.
  • Multi-Vehicle Planning: Research, develop, and validate algorithms for fleet scheduling and deconfliction.


Requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4
  • Passionate about aviation and the future of transportation!
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor/Master's/PhD program in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited college/university.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python and/or C/C++.
  • Hands-on engineering experience in university programs/courses in the areas of planning, perception, and decision-making.
Eligibility Requirements

Must be legally authorized to work in the US
Must be live in the US at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins to meet eligibility requirements
Must be either a rising junior or Senior
Must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0
Transcripts are required. Unofficial transcripts are accepted
Must be an enrolled student at both the time of application AND at the time the internship begins to meet eligibility requirements
Must be able to work 40 hours a week for 8 weeks (Full-time 2 months)
Must be able to work pacific standard time (PST)
