**This internship is 100% in person onsite at the Serco headquarters office in Herndon, VA. Serco follows all CDC state and local COVID-19 recommendations and ensures the safety of all on-site employees.**

Serco’s Training and Experience Program (STEP) is designed to provide undergraduate university and college students paid accredited internship opportunities to gain meaningful, hands-on work experience in a professional environment. STEP emphasizes developing the workforce of the future. Our goal is to help you build a career roadmap that provides you with challenging and rewarding learning experiences with Serco.

Serco offers internship opportunities across the following three career tracks: Business, Technical, and Engineering. Our 2022 internship opportunities are available throughout the U.S. and Canada and begin on May 23rd and conclude on August 12th, with 1 week off July 4th – 8th. You will work with your manager to identify the best working schedule for you – working no more than an average of 36 hours a week with the added perk of half-days on Fridays.

In addition to gaining hands-on experience, you will attend training sessions taught by skilled leaders in our company which provides training to better prepare you for a full-time career. These training sessions range from finance, personality in the workplace, presentation skills, resume building, and more. In addition, we believe great ideas come from all levels of the company! Because of that, each year we challenge our interns to work in diverse teams to develop, propose and execute on a project that improves our ways of working. Throughout this project you will work with Senior Sponsors and meet with members of our Executive Team.

Position Description
Serco is seeking to hire an IT Service Delivery Intern to join our highly engaged desktop technical team. In this team, we use cutting edge technology to support our over 9,000 colleagues across Serco. The team is responsible for the delivery of IT services to include change management, configuration management, IT infrastructure planning and projects tracking, IT budget compilation and management, IT procurement, IT security review and remediation, service desk ticketing and reporting, and asset management.

This internship is an exciting opportunity to gain exposure to how IT directly impacts program performance within a business through experience working within the IT service delivery model as well as the technology and processes used within the enterprise. As the IT Service Delivery Intern you will support and maintain organizational computer systems, desktops, and peripherals, which includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organizational hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance.

You will troubleshoot problem areas (in person, by telephone, or via work order) and provide end-user assistance where needed.

Responsibilities
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair for remote users as needed.
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end user and network hardware, peripheral devices, printing/scanning devices, presentation equipment, software, and other products in order to deliver required desktop service levels.
  • Construct, install, and test customized configurations based on various platforms and operating systems.
  • Collaborate with Technology team members to ensure efficient operation of the organization's desktop computing environment.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or work orders regarding desktop problems.
  • Ensure that desktop connections, ie. network jacks are in proper working order.
Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Must be US Citizen and clearable to a secret clearance.
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Preferred fields of study: Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field of study.
  • Ideal candidates are rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
  • Excellent knowledge of PC and desktop hardware and PC internal components.
  • Ability to operate tools, components, and peripheral accessories.
  • Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides.
  • Required proficiency in Windows 10.
  • Experience with the following technologies desired: SCCM, remote access tools, and Active Directory.
  • Self-motivated with a strong work initiative and attention to detail.
  • Strong customer service, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating in a team environment.
  • Passion for learning with a wide degree of creativity and curiosity.
