Senior Medical Director
Job Summary
The Senior Medical Director (“Director”) will be responsible for aspects of delivering scientific services and products in relevant therapeutic areas. This may include slide decks for physician, advisory board materials, interactive PDFs, video scripts, flashcards/brochures, and other relevant content.
The Director will actively participate as a member of the scientific team and will consult regularly with the Group Medical Director and VP, Scientific Services. The Director will, with the support and help of the other members of CM’s team including the Account Director(s), assist with the development and implementation of clients’ strategic initiatives, new products and technologies and day-to-day activities to support the success of CM business. The incoming Director is expected to have extensive knowledge of medical communications and pharmaceutical processes and familiarity with multiple therapeutic areas. The director will manage junior scientific staff, as appropriate.
Responsibilities
- With input from the Group Medical Director, oversees direct reports within the department to:
- Assign and direct resources for projects and deliverables
- Ensure accuracy and quality of deliverables
- Develops, writes, and updates content as assigned
- Assist in the development of overall strategy and planning for assigned specialties
- Participates in strategic planning, project status meetings, and promotional review committees with internal and client teams as needed
- Understand the competitive landscape for the therapeutic space
- Support new business efforts as available
- Partners with internal stakeholders to ensure a high level of scientific accuracy
- Partners with internal team and provides onsite support at key client meetings or events
- Takes a proactive solutions-oriented approach into all tasks
- Performs these and other duties as assigned in adherence with the standards and expectations of ClinicalMind
Job Requirements
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proven organizational and timeline prioritization skills; scheduling flexibility to accommodate work volumes and the ability to manage multiple therapeutic areas
- Experience working in teams and consensus building across the organization
- Resourceful, and demonstrate good judgment and leadership
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Required degree: Advanced degree in the Life Sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD). Undergraduate degree in related discipline with an applicable combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Travel: Travel will be required to: a) clients for sales and customer support/maintenance, b) major medical conferences both in the US and internationally as identified as important by clients or where CM is conducting a supported function/meeting/activity within the designated specialties as well as other medical education conferences and meetings as required; c) to corporate office in New York, NY for management meetings to accomplish the goals of this position.
- Location: Home based (remote) or NYC Office - candidate's choice
- Experience Desired: Minimum of 5 years’ medical writing experience, preferably in a health care marketing or communications agency internship, preceptorship or equivalent
