Cyber Support Technical Intern

BAE Systems, Inc seeks rising 3rd and 4th year college students or graduating associates degree candidates at accredited colleges and universities in various technical fields such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, and other science as a Technical Intern to support the Automated Containerized Cyber Environment (ACCE). ACCE is an integral component of our Independent Research and Development (IR&D) effort aligned to the United States Department of Defense’s National Cyber Range Complex (NCRC). Ideal candidates have strong academic backgrounds in cyber security, cyber vulnerability testing and evaluation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and cloud computing.

This internship is designed to be the first year of a two-year internship building on skills and experiences in cloud computing, tailored network environment, cyber vulnerability testing, model-based systems engineering (MBSE). Interns will support systems or software development for the IR&D project selected to demonstrate technical concepts and explore potential solutions for our customers. They will develop technical skills and expand their industry knowledge across a broad range of projects and tasks. Interns will be organized into work teams and will be active in task planning and execution, staff meetings, customer meetings (as appropriate), and technical discussions.

This internship is for a three-month period (without benefits or relocation offered). Students must have completed their second year and pursuing a degree in an IT-related field. Positions will be primarily remote supporting activities and operations out of McLean, VA; Charleston, SC; and Augusta, GA

The Interns will gain experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Designing and building models for visualizing cyber environments and attacks
  • Cyber security engineering
  • Automation of cloud (AWS)
  • Preparing software builds and documentation
  • Software unit testing
  • Systems level testing
  • Assisting with Configuration Management
  • Developing / Updating / auditing software & systems administration processes
  • Virtual Range Design
  • MBSE
  • MITRE ATT&Ck framework
In addition to on-the-job training, the I&S Internship Program offers:

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Completion of the Sophomore or Junior year in a 4-year science, engineering or math program
  • Completion of introductory programming or engineering classes / Understand basic engineering principles
  • Group or individual project experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
  • Strong ability to work independently in a remote environment
  • Must possess a high level of attention to detail
  • Ability to analyze problems and develop creative solutions to the problems identified
  • Ability to work and stay on task
